Where Do I Go In My Pain?

Where Do I Go In My Pain?

Maquette: Plaster, wire, 3-D printed megaphone, feathers, Approx. 50cm x 30cm x 30cm, 2021/2

This maquette is a blueprint for a much larger sculpture yet to be realised. The piece asks where we go in our pain and suffering. Do we hide, do we enter into destructive places, or look for quick fixes and easy relief. Do we speak negativity over ourselves and one another? There is so much fear about the end of the world. Where do we go to find rest in the midst of this anxiety? In the book of Proverbs there is a description of a house covered in nettles. These plants destroy the surroundings and take over the environment. Then in Psalm 91:4 we read of a God who ‘covers us in his wings’, providing protection and a safe dwelling place.
